Derbyshire Dinner & Mayfly Weekend
The second Derbyshire Dinner is planned on Thursday 15th September back at Hassop Hall Hotel near Bakewell. This will follow the pattern of the West Country and Scottish Dinners. The room used has been the venue for the dinners of the Cressbrook and Litton Flyfishers Club and the standard of the hotel’s food and service has always been very high. There is space for up to 50 members and guests and the charge will be around £65 per head. Fishing will be organised locally the following day, but will be dependant on availability and limited to 40 rods. Derbyshire has a rich history of flyfishing and this is an enjoyable new event. All those interested should contact Dr John Smith (jhfs[at]btinternet.com) or David Marriott (david[at]mgrw.co.uk). Accommodation should be booked direct with Hassop Hall 01629 640 488.

As I’m sure Members are only too aware securing Mayfly fishing on the Test and Itchen on the prime weekend of the season is becoming increasingly difficult. It is only thanks to the generosity of our Members that are willing to give the Club access to their own fishing beats that we are able to hold this weekend. This year the intention is to arrange chalk stream fishing for the younger members of the Club only. The Mayfly Weekend will be held on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd May. Please would any young Members who wish to take up the offer of fishing that weekend get in touch with James Kalbassi (jkalbassi[at]paragonbrokers.com).
