URGENT 22nd January Winter Talk – Change of Speaker
Due to family reason Steve Edge is unable to give the Talk next week. Instead we have been very fortunate to have Dr Cyril Bennett MBE, step in and talk on ‘Conserving & Restoring our Fly Life’.
Dr Cyril Bennett is one of the UK’s leading entomologists, specialising in river insects, who pioneered riverfly monitoring in the voluntary sector and in September last year, he was awarded an MBE for his services to conservation. His entomological close-up photographs are legendary. Some of the finest examples are featured in the fly anglers’ essential reading: The Pocket Guide to Matching the Hatch (co-authored with Peter Lapsley in 2010). Dr Bennett is no stranger to the Club and is currently working on a project with the Committee to replace the missing fly specimens in our two cabinets, donated by Mosely.
There are still places left, so please let me know if you would like to attend and guests are most welcome. The cost is £65 and this includes the Talk, dinner, wine and port. If you have already booked, unless I hear otherwise, I will keep you on the list.
Timings are 7pm drinks, 7.30pm – the Talk and questions, then dinner from 8.15pm. Lounge suit.
